Formation:

The support group was formed in 2004 and is affiliated with the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia. Offering emotional support and information to the general public is the main focus of the group.

Activities:

We serve the north-eastern suburbs of Melbourne, meeting at 7 pm on the third Monday of every month at the Montmorency RSL from February to November. See "Meeting Details" and "Contact Us" on our web site for further information.

We aim to provide both consumer-level information on various treatment options and encouragement to see that there is life after prostate cancer and treatment for it. To this end, we share experiences in a confidential setting. If we don't have a guest speaker, we show relevant video material. We do not provide medical advice.

Members receive a newsletter via post or email. Copies of other newsletters, leaflets, books and DVDs on prostate cancer and associated problems are available to borrow at meetings or by contacting the above.

We promote awareness of the need for men in the appropriate age range to be checked regularly by their doctors by arranging the sponsorship of trophies for sporting events such as bowling tournaments, walks for men's health, etc. Trophy presentation is accompanied by a brief speech and circulationof information about prostate cancer and our Support Group.

Our meetings are open to all members of the public and we encourage wives or partners to attend as well.

Meeting Dates:
