Formation:

The support group was formed in November 1997 and is affiliated with the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia. Offering emotional support and information to Prostate Cancer Patients and creating awareness in the general public is the main focus of the group.

Activities:

Meeting dates and guest speakers are advertised in the local paper. Members receive a newsletter via post or email and copies of newsletters, leaflets and items of interest. A library of books and DVDs on prostate cancer and associated conditions is available to be borrowed at meetings and within the general library of Cancer Council Tasmania.

Our meetings are always very well supported by our members who are available to answer questions in confidence and offer support. We have a panel of members who give freely of their own experiences, often personally by phone to newly diagnosed visitors to alert them to the many options available.

Our meetings are open to all members of the public and we encourage wives or partners to attend.

Meetings:

3rd Tuesday each month, 2p.m., at Cancer Council Tasmania, 180 Collins St., Hobart
and
4th Tuesday each month, 6p.m., Scots Church Hall, 29 Bathurst St., Hobart
