Activities:
At our meetings we either have a guest speaker or show a DVD on topics of interest.
Meetings are attended by 65-80 people including partners and we actively encourage men to bring their partners. Morning tea is provided giving opportunity for participants to share experiences
and for newcomers to gain more information. A wide range of
published information from Cancer Council Queensland and other
organisations is available free of charge at each meeting. As
well we have a good reference library.
Brochures and information cards are distributed to
over 250 GP's, urologists, hospitals, medical centres, other health
professionals, chemists, libraries and other appropriate outlets throughout the region.
Meetings are publicised in free weekly community newspapers and on ABC radio. As part of our
awareness program we provide guest speakers for community groups and service clubs.
In addition to meetings, members of the
Support Group Committee are available to provide telephone contact and support for men coping with diagnosis and treatment, or for men and their partners just
seeking more infomation.
