Across various games through the Eastern Cricket Association

A large group of cricketers in Melbourne's east are padding up for another summer. And, in doing so, they will be turning blue for a more-than worthy cause.

The Eastern Cricket Association's veterans competition has said "enough is enough" and, as one of the largest organisations of its kind in Victoria, if not Australia, has thrown its considerable weight behind promoting awareness of the disease and encouraging testing.

The competition will use blue stumps and bails this season to promote awareness of the disease while batsmen can take the crease with bat grips provided to them in 'prostate cancer blue.'

Former VFL/AFL premiership player and coach David Parkin will be the ambassador for the initiative and the ECA is planning a feature game later this season to highlight the cause.
