Roger Phillis lost his beloved wife Dorothy in 2016. The devoted couple had been inseparable – living, laughing and even singing together for over 13 years. Her death devastated Roger.

Then, while still grieving, Roger was diagnosed with prostate cancer.

Without any family to turn to, Roger felt so isolated and alone he couldn’t picture a future for himself.

“I felt like I’d lost everything. I was a mental, physical and emotional wreck. Honestly, I was thinking 'What’s the point of all this?'”

Thankfully, a local prostate support group put Roger in contact with Prostate Cancer Specialist Nurse, Gay Corbett.

“She saved my life,” Roger gratefully admits.

Prostate Cancer Specialist Nurses provide life-saving support to men like Roger living with prostate cancer. But 2 out of 3 men will miss out on the vital specialist nursing care they need.

Please help more men get the support they need, when they need it most.

From the moment Gay spoke with Roger, he knew he was not alone. Gay offered comfort, support, expert advice and practical help. “Here was someone I hadn’t even met, showing concern and compassion. It was unbelievable,” Roger says. “Until then, I felt like nobody cared about me.”

Gay was there for Roger every step of the way, coordinating his care, helping him manage the side-effects of treatment and providing on-going support and information he could rely on.

Today, Roger is thriving. With Gay’s help he’s learnt to manage his symptoms and get on with his life.

“His life has turned around,” Gay reports happily.

Roger’s story could have been very different if Gay had not been there to support him.

Please make an important gift today that could change – or even save – a life.
