Our group will now meet informally each month for a meal, fellowship and a chat to enable the sharing of experiences and information for any man or woman who wants to attend.
There will not be any formal business, no executives, no fund raising, no guest speakers and no expectation of any commitment on the part of those attending. From time to time the group may meet differently and sometimes information about prostate cancer will be available.
We will proudly remain affiliated with the peak body for prostate cancer information, research and support - the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (PCFA) as we have been since our group was formed in the year 2000 as one of the first in inland NSW.
We hope that this change will make it easier for men with prostate cancer and their partners to come along to benefit from being with those who have been on their journey with prostate cancer. While Doctors are the expert in the disease, we are the experts of the experience.
Many men and their partners have benefitted from coming to our group to meet those who have survived this journey and are willing to share the wisdom of their experience with others.
The Convenors of meetings will be Pat and John Trollor who have been involved with prostate cancer support groups since 1999, having held many offices in Bathurst and Tamworth where they started the group. Pat and John have spoken on many occasions about this disease. John is currently an Ambassador of PCFA and recipient of the Max Gardner Award of the PCFA for distinguished service to support groups. Pat is a retired Nurse and Counsellor. John is a retired doctor.
Pat and John may be contacted on (02) 6337 2827 or mobile 0473 563 929
We meet at 5.00pm on the third Tuesday of every month at the Panthers Club, 132 Piper Street, Bathurst.
