It isn't often you see Queensland NRL legend Gorden Tallis proudly wear blue, but when it comes to prostate cancer he is happy to switch colours in support for the upcoming 2014 PIRTEK Fishing Challenge.

Gorden "Raging Bull" Tallis met with Michael Guest, PIRTEK Fishing Challenge Event Director, to film a fishing segment for Broncos TV and talk about the importance of raising awareness about prostate cancer.

The PIRTEK Fishing Challenge - which takes place on Sunday 23 March - offers Australians a unique opportunity to take to the water to raise funds for Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (PCFA), Australia's peak body for prostate cancer.

Gorden Tallis took a lot more from his fishing experience with Michael Guest and encourages all Australian men to be aware of their prostate health.

"The PIRTEK Fishing Challenge is a great concept to get Australians to talk about prostate cancer while enjoying fishing. I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to learn more about this campaign and its cause - it is a good reminder for all blokes to be aware of their health and to talk to their doctors about prostate cancer risk," said Mr Tallis.

All participants who get involved will be in the running to win over $155,000 in cash and prizes, including a boat, outboard and trailer package (valued at over $33,000) and cash shopping sprees.

Michael Guest is reminding people interested in participating that there have been lots of registrations come through but there is still time to join the fun.

"We have had an influx of registrations over the past few weeks but still need more people to come on board. The 21 species target list has been released so everyone can start planning their fishing trips for the competition. It doesn't matter if you've never picked up a fishing rod before or if you're a fishing veteran, we are all getting involved to help Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (PCFA) continue their great work," said Mr Guest.

Money raised from the 2014 PIRTEK Fishing Challenge will go towards PCFA's research projects, awareness and support programs.

For more information and to register visit www.pirtekfishingchallenge.com.auRegistrations close on Wednesday 19 March and costs are $20.00, plus $5.95 for postage and handling, with all proceeds will go directly to PCFA.
