20 January 2026
Since 2018, the Eastern Vic Pleasure Harness Club in Southern Gippsland, Victoria, has brought together horses, carriages, and community members to support the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.
Held as a biannual pleasure drive, from 24-27 January, the Harness Drive sees up to 22 horse-drawn vehicles travel sections of Victoria’s stunning rail trails, including the South Gippsland Rail Trail.
The event attracts drivers from across the state, many of whom return year after year for the “camaraderie, adventure, and scenery."
Organiser Leanne Prosser said the drive began whilst she was working as a Prostate Cancer Specialist Nurse, with funds raised directed to PCFA research and specialist nursing support.
"The event is a great social experience and raises money for a cause people really believe in,” Leanne added.
“It’s also a beautiful part of Victoria to drive through.”
The 2024 drive raised $10,000, supported by participant donations, local businesses and a popular raffle on the first night.
With police assistance to help larger carriages safely cross highways and bridges, the drive also presents unique and memorable challenges for both horses and drivers.
Now working as a nurse in radiotherapy at Latrobe Regional Health in Traralgon, Leanne is very proud that the drive continues to raise awareness and vital funds for prostate cancer.
