We’re pleased to welcome Matt Hands, who has recently joined the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia as our new Community Engagement Manager for Western Australia.
With extensive experience leading people, partnerships and community engagement across healthcare and other complex organisations, Matt was drawn to the opportunity to support a cause that has affected many Australian men and families.
“A close family member’s experience with prostate cancer gives me a strong connection to the cause, so the opportunity to contribute to PCFA’s mission by leading community engagement across Western Australia felt like a natural next step.”
Before joining PCFA, Matt led consumer engagement, patient experience, volunteer management and healthcare improvement initiatives across major public and private health organisations in Western Australia.
With an educational background in psychology, Matt has also worked across psychosocial health and safety, mental health, communications, engagement and health insurance.
“I’m most looking forward to strengthening PCFA’s presence, engagement and community impact across Western Australia,” he says.
“That means building trusted relationships with support groups, volunteers, healthcare services, corporate partners and local communities, while identifying opportunities to expand our reach and impact.”
As a WA local, Matt brings a strong understanding of the state’s communities and a commitment to achieving sustainable outcomes for men and families impacted by prostate cancer.
“My goal is to help build a stronger and more connected network across WA, with more people aware of and able to access the research, resources and support PCFA offers.”
