Overview
The Advanced Prostate Cancer Network (APCN) has been operating in various forms since 2010. In 2025 the baton passed from the group’s founders to a new group of men, all of whom have advanced prostate cancer. Coordinated by Ross Chapman, the APCN Action Group includes Tony Maxwell, Alan Barlee, Gabriel Lacoba, and Garry Radley. Together, we are keen to keep the membership growing, both in the number of participants and in the benefits the group can bring to all members.
The APCN is a national peer support group specifically for men living with advanced and metastatic prostate cancer. Members include men newly diagnosed with advanced disease as well as those who have undergone multiple lines of treatment, including surgery, radiation therapy, hormone therapy, chemotherapy and newer therapies. As treatment options continue to expand, men often face increasingly complex decisions involving benefits, side effects, quality of life and future treatment opportunities.
Critical questions about treatment options, side effects and emerging therapies have always been central to the group's ethos – 'Building patient empowerment and self-advocacy through increasing knowledge and mateship'. APCN provides informed peer support, helping men navigate a complex and often uncertain journey while sharing experiences, practical insights and questions to discuss with their medical teams.
The group focuses not only on living longer but also on living well. Through education, expert speakers and mutual support, APCN seeks to help men maximise both quality of life and longevity while managing advanced prostate cancer.
