The inaugural It’s a Bloke Thing Prostate Cancer Luncheon was held in Toowoomba in 2011 and has since become an significant fundraising event benefiting various men’s health and research programs, which have included the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and the Toowoomba Base Hospitals men's health programs. In 2017, the community contributed more than $1.53 million to the It’s a Bloke Thing campaign and in 2018, the committee expects to achieve even greater support.
In previous years, the event has welcomed high profile guest speakers including Lee Kernaghan, Alan Joyce, Harrison Craig, Ray Martin, actor and speaker Ray Meagher of Home & Away, CEO and Director of Research at the Translational Research Institute, Professor Ian Frazer, Mao's Last Dancer, Li Cunxin and other notable guests. The anticipated line-up for the 2018 luncheon is set to further inspire and entertain guests, with details to be released closer to the date.
