World Cancer Day 2019

What is World Cancer Day?

World Cancer Day is an initiative of the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) of which Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia is a member.

Taking place on Tuesday February 4th it is the only day on the global health calendar to unite and rally under the one banner of cancer.

Why Cancer?

9.6 million people die each year from cancer. That's more than HIV/AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis combined. By 2030, experts project cancer deaths to rise to 13 million. If we don't act.

The Theme

This year marks the second-year of a 3-year campaign, entitled 'I Am and I Will'. This call-to-action highlights the importance of individual action and personal commitment in the fight against cancer worldwide.

We are all encouraged to make a personal commitment to reduce the impact of cancer #IAmAndIWill
